Perhaps the question "can machines think"? should be re-articulated as "is the machine different from you or I"? Why is there a perceptive gap between our tools and ourselves? Do they not constitute consciousness and by extension the body? The cultural schisms that generate this differentiation between "man" and "machine" are also responsible for spawning voids and displacements — and the ghosts that inhabit them. It is these ghosts who constitute Machine Fragments, sound fictions spun from the perspective of sentient machines, testing humans for machine intelligence. Not so much to expose the machinic dimension in humans (we suspected as much), but to arouse the sense that "Machine" is also a kind of gender.
Tal vez la pregunta "¿pueden pensar las máquinas"? debe volver a articularse como "¿es la máquina diferente de usted o yo"? ¿Por qué hay una brecha perceptiva entre nuestras herramientas y nosotros mismos? Los cismas culturales que generan esta diferenciación entre "hombre" y "máquina" también son responsables de engendrar vacíos y desplazamientos, y los fantasmas que los habitan. Son estos fantasmas los que constituyen los Machine Fragments, ficciones sonoras generadas desde la perspectiva de las máquinas inteligentes, que prueban a los humanos su inteligencia artificial. No tanto para exponer la dimensión “maquínica” en los humanos, sino para despertar la sensación de que "Máquina" es también una especie en sí misma.
